The website vestnikkavkaza.net reports that the website Ria Novosti reports that the case of the fire at the Grozny City Tower in April, 2013 is now going to trial, as announced yesterday by the Chechnya Prosectuor’s Office. (This blogger was unable to find the story on Ria Novosti’s website.) Mohammed Amin Amirov, a 47-year-old mechanic employed by the construction management company is accused of “damage to property on a large scale, committed by careless handling of fire.”
“The investigation has established that the mechanic of the branch construction management 20 “MC GENSTROY” Amira on April 3, 2013, while on the 4th floor of a high rise building “Olympus” in the Grozny City in a case not connected to his work, without permission and showing criminal negligence and knowing about the fire properties of the source used, a gas burner, glued joints of roofing material, heating them with fire. A carton box of the outside air conditioner unit caught fire, resulting in a large-scale fire,” RIA Novosti quotes the report.
The reports indicates that “the ventilated facades, stained-glass windows and air-conditioning units located on the outside of the building” were destroyed by the blaze, but there is no further information on the fuel that burned, or the composition of the cladding panels that were seen melting and falling off the building during video of the fire.
